Clinical Instructor in Adjunct Series
The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (DPTRS) at the University of California, San Francisco, invites applications for a 12-month, full-time Clinical Instructor in the Adjunct series (i.e. non-tenure track) with focus on research and clinical care in the field of Multiple Sclerosis.
The Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science (DPTRS) is a clinical department within the School of Medicine, and includes clinical, research, and teaching faculty members, DPT graduate students, Orthopedic Residents, Acute Care Residents, PhD students, and volunteer clinical faculty members. The DPTRS also operates three large faculty practice clinics, and a Health and Wellness Center. The DPT program is a joint program with San Francisco State University (adding another 5 faculty members).
Responsibilities will include research and clinical care in the area of Multiple Sclerosis pertaining to the field of Physical Therapy and Neurology. Candidates with postdoctoral fellowship expertise and documented success in foundation grant funding, national and international scholarly dissemination in MS research, and clinical experience in neuromuscular rehabilitation are preferred. A history of teaching neuroanatomy and/or evidence-based practice content within an accredited DPT program is desirable. There will also be opportunities to interact and teach advanced concepts to students in the PhD in Rehabilitation Science program and physical therapist residents in the Orthopedic Residency and/or Acute Care Residency program.
The applicant for this position is expected to practice evidence based, high quality care; collaborate and communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary clinical team; participate in quality, safety, and outcomes improvements; demonstrate successful time management with multiple demands and competing priorities; professionally represent the Department of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Science within UCSF and the surrounding communities; and maintain an active dialogue with UCSF referring providers and within the UCSF Health community.
Required Qualifications: • Must have a DPT and PhD, EdD, or equivalent academic doctoral-level degree and have a Neurological area of expertise at the time of hire. • Must be a licensed physical therapist or eligible for licensure in California, and must have experience in neurological patient care at the time of hire. • The ability to work with a highly productive clinical and research team is critical to the success of this position. • Applicant’s materials must list (pending) qualifications upon submission.
