Director of Alumni and Parent Relations
Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a Director of Alumni and Parent Relations, in the Office of Advancement, to be responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive program to increase alumni and parent involvement through four key channels of engagement: giving, volunteering, attending, and connecting, in support of the mission of Utica College. The primary focus of the Director is to build, manage, and sustain programs and activities that broaden the volunteer, attendance, and connection elements of the Advancement mission for alumni, parents, and friends of the College through a campus-based and regional model.
The Director is also responsible for strengthening, advising, and bringing greater visibility to the Alumni Society in its relationship with, and to the benefit of, the College, and its governing body, the Utica College Alumni Council (UCAC). He/she will also have responsibility for a companion organization, the Parents’ Council, which will facilitate involvement of the parents of current students in the life of the College through the four channels of engagement.
The Director shall have principal responsibility for the planning, promotion, implementation, and management of the College’s annual Homecoming Weekend – a multi-day, multi event program that brings together the largest single gathering of all of the College’s key constituent groups, through a campus-wide steering committee.
Finally, serving as the chair of the Advancement’s internal regional mobilizing committee, the Director will be responsible for managing the work of the Regional Alumni Networks (RAN) steering committees, and their activities and programs in each of their respective geographic regions.

Primary responsibilities include:
A. Develops the overall strategic vision, planning, management, marketing, and alumni and parent engagement strategy for Homecoming Weekend that fosters a high-level of alumni and family participation/engagement. B. Manages and staffs the UCAC and the Parents’ Council, their Executive, Standing, and Ad Hoc Committees. •Spearheads the identification, recruitment, and nomination of potential members of both Councils. • Coordinates the UCAC and Parents’ Council activities with key campus stakeholders such as Career Services, Admissions, Academic Affairs, Athletics, and other academic and administrative offices for volunteer opportunities. • Plans and implements UCAC and Parents’ Council meetings, including the preparation of supporting meeting materials. • Encourages Council representation at the College’s campus and regional events. C. Working collaboratively with Advancement colleagues, and key stakeholders across the College, the Director serves as the principal representative on all matters pertaining to the aspects of constituent engagement that involve volunteering, event attendance, and connections, through a well-planned, and well-executed multi-channel communications strategy. D. Assists the Director of Development with alumni outreach objectives including alumni engagement within designated programs, such as the Career Mentor Program. E. Maintains the Alumni Events Calendar, including the Advancement Division (Google) Calendar. F. Takes an active role in the development of the department’s strategic and operational plans as required by department leadership. Works closely with the Director of Development to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success. G. Assumes a portfolio of assigned donors, prospective donors, and volunteers (including both alumni and parents) to foster their financial support and volunteer leadership activities. H. Working closely with Advancement colleagues, play a leading role in the planning of strategic, affinity, social, cultural, and intellectual programs in key regions that include a critical concentration of alumni, parents, and friends. I. Serve as principal advocate to present and promote alumni and parent achievement in major College digital and print publications such as the “UTICA” magazine, the College’s website, and other multi-media outlets. J. Works closely with the Director of Development and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual, departmental, and divisional goals and key performance indicators. K. Provides over-all support for the principal fundraising objectives outlined each year by the Vice President for Advancement, as approved by the President and the Board of Trustees. L. Demonstrates a strong commitment to the collection of demographic and biographic information that enhances and preserves the quality of the permanent constituent and contribution records of all alumni, parents, and friends in the College’s official Advancement database.
• Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of three years of volunteer management, event planning, program management for school or non-profit institution(s), or relevant, comparable experience required. An emphasis on Alumni Relations, volunteer boards, and committees, and event planning is desirable.
