Educational Director, Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program, School of Social Work - (210000BI)
The Educational Director is a Faculty Clinical Instructor who oversees the Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program. This position reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program at the University of Maryland School of Social Work is a partnership with the Maryland Department of Human Services successfully preparing BSW and MSW social work students for social work practice with families and children in Maryland's public child welfare programs for over twenty years. The program strives, through required academic courses, field education assignments, and targeted child welfare training experiences, to impact state's achievement of core outcomes of public child welfare services programs of child safety, permanency of family relationships, and child and family well-being.

The essential functions of this position include:
* Coordinating with the Department of Human Services/Social Services Administration regarding the development, implementation, and monitoring of the Maryland Title IV-E Education for Public Child Welfare Program, which includes overall management of the budget, expenditures, invoicing, and monitoring of program deliverables. * Managing participant tracking system, including length of employment commitments, amount of stipends received, fulfillment of employment obligation, and recoupment of funds from participants required to repay stipends. * Supervising the work of the Title IV-E Assistant Direct and the Program Coordinator. * Providing oversight of the work of the full-time Title IV-E Clinical Instructors who function as faculty field instructors for Title IV-E students completing field education. This includes individual and group instruction of field education students on-site at these locations, leadership of field education seminars held monthly at these locations, and consultation regarding student needs and concerns. * Coordinating with faculty members partially supported through Title IV-E funding, such as the Title IV-E Program Evaluator, the UMB Faculty who Chair the Title IV-E Consortium, Title IV-E faculty at Family Connections who receive Title IV-E support for field instruction of Title IV-E students. * Strengthening the School of Social Work's climate for diversity, equity & inclusion * Assessing, developing and implementing supplemental child welfare education and training activities not explicitly covered in the MSW curriculum. This includes primary responsibility for the Title IV-E BlackBoard Course, which provides students with instruction equivalent to the child welfare pre-service training, web-based child welfare resource information, and provides an electronic format for timely communication with students and field instructors. * Supporting and enhancing a sense of belonging and success of students from traditionally marginalized populations * Coordinating with the SSW Admission, Student Services, Field Education, and Faculty regarding Title IV-E related academic and student activities, educational opportunities, research and academic writing, and service needs. * Employing anti-racist practices and principles to accomplish work. * Potential to teach MSW courses focused on child welfare practice * Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required: Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited SSW. Current LCSW-C or equivalent clinical license in social work.
Required: A minimum of five years Post-Masters Social Work Practice Experience, with at least three years' experience in Public Child Welfare. Preferred: Experience supervising staff. Experience providing field instruction. Experience providing social work supervision, teaching, or training.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
* Excellent teaching and clinical skills. * Passing score on Maryland's Competency Test within six months of hire. * Effective communicator in both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. * Knowledge of Maryland's child welfare practice models, motivational interviewing, and child welfare trauma interventions. * Ability to work cooperatively with diverse populations and demonstrate professional, ethical, respectful, and courteous behavior when interacting with others. * Ability to establish goals, structures, and processes necessary to implement a mission and strategic vision. * Excellent clinical and teaching skills.
