The Tufts University School of Medicine's Department of Public Health and Community Medicine invites applications for full-time, 12-month non-tenured faculty appointments for the developing hybrid Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program. This accelerated two-year DPT program is a blend of online and on-campus activities which allows the faculty member to live remote to the campus. However, DPT faculty members must be able to travel and stay in the Phoenix, AZ area for designated time periods each semester over the two-year curriculum. The successful candidate is expected to enhance current teaching, scholarship, service, and mentoring activities within the DPT program.
The Tufts University School of Medicine is located on the Health Sciences Campus in the heart of downtown Boston. Also located on the campus are the School of Dental Medicine, the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy, the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, and the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Jean Mayer Human Nutrition Research Center (HNRCA) on Aging. The Department of Public Health and Community Medicine houses the Public Health Programs that confer the Master of Public Health (MPH), the Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH), Master of Medical Science (Physician Assistant), and the Master of Science in Health Informatics and Analytics. All faculty in the DPT program seek to create an educational and workplace environment that fosters active learning, discussion, and debate, critical thinking, inclusion and the capacity to work in a multidisciplinary practice environment.
We seek a collegial individual who either has a terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities (Ph.D., Ed.D, etc.) or a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree (or tDPT), with American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) or certification credentials appropriate for their teaching responsibilities. Rank will be commensurate with experience but all positions in Tufts DPT are non-tenure.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent communication skills and strong computer skills to meet the needs of our hybrid educational instructional format. We desire a team-oriented colleague with experience teaching in a DPT program who is willing and able to collaborate on instructional methods, student-learning activities, and scholarly pursuits. We also are eager to identify candidates who show a genuine appreciation of evidence-based teaching, integration of technology within the classroom and building a student-centered community within the online classroom. The candidate should be licensed in or eligible for licensure in AZ or their state of residence.
