Research Technician - Developmental, Molecular & Chemical Biology, School of Medicine - (21001164)

The Forgac lab is focused on characterizing the vacuolar (H+)-ATPase as new and important target in the development of novel therapeutics to inhibit breast cancer metastasis. Approaches include CRISPR/Cas9 gene disruption, preparation and characterization of immune therapeutic nanobodies, measurement of cancer cell invasion using in vitro assays and analysis of breast cancer metastasis using in vivo mouse models.
The Department of Developmental, Molecular and Chemical Biology conducts research of basic biochemical and molecular mechanisms involved in cell functions in both the normal and diseased states, as well as teaching students at the Medical, Dental Schools, and the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences.
Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, conducts a variety of routine experiments following established procedures and protocols, which may include performing assays, tissue culture, electrophoresis, and other laboratory techniques. May also record test results, analyze data using basic statistics, maintain laboratory equipment and supplies, and monitor animal colonies.
Bachelor's degree in science with up to1 year laboratory experience.
Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures, including tissue culture, working with mice and molecular biological techniques
