General Summary/Purpose: For this role we are looking for a graphic designer who can translate stakeholder needs and content into compelling visuals. In this role you will lead the development of graphics and illustration as well as provide graphic design consultations and templates for other media development such as; interactive lesson development, video production, and motion graphic generation.
Your role will be crucial in helping the media team maintain brand adherence in all visual elements by developing templates and consulting and participating in new media development across all courses. This role must have a keen eye for detail and a drive to push the boundaries of brand alignment while maintaining adherence. Previous experience in accessibility standards for graphics is a plus.
This position may work remotely. May be required to be on site campus at the Harbor East or DC up to 20% of the time.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities: Core Responsibilities [70%]
Work with the eLearning Producer and other stakeholders to understand content and visual needs in order to develop clear and compelling course graphics that will support adult learners’ comprehension of material.
Consult with the eLearning Development Specialist to conceptualize and design interactive projects.
Support projects spanning production of multiple courses in development, revamp, or revisioning.
Ensure all graphics developed meet standards for accessibility, brand, and production value.
Design and develop graphic templates and assets that can be used by other multimedia team members for any repeated workflows.
Use software and design programs like Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop to create artwork
Develop and illustrate graphic icons.
Monitor and track iterations and reviews for approvals.
Proof and perform quality control on your own and other’s work in detail.
Demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and track details of multiple projects.
Quality Assurance of 3rd Party Developers [15%]
Reviews 3rd party interactive content for quality and consistency as needed.
Keeps abreast of developments of related media technologies.
Researches and disseminate media technology resources
Faculty & Staff Training [5%]
Use expertise to provide training for faculty and staff on basic graphic design skills and best practices.
Other duties as assigned [5%]
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in fine arts, graphic or publications design preferred.
HTML experience required
Two years’ experience required
Portfolio with relevant work experience and examples required
Experience working in higher education eLearning development a plus
Artistic ability to produce illustrations or cartoons from scratch
4-5 years of experience working as a graphic designer
Interest in illustration
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Expert knowledge in the Adobe Creative Suite. Specifically Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
Extreme attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects at once
Design thinking, creative problem-solving skills and growth mindset.
Ability to take ideas and concepts and convert them into a compelling visual
Passion for composition, hierarchy, and visual storytelling through design
Understanding of and appreciation for typography, and how to use it effectively
