The Employer Engagement & Communication Manager plays a vital role on the Career & Internship Center’s Employer & Student Engagement team, highlighting and cultivating employer relationships; managing the high-visibility, complex events hosted through the Center and engaging thousands of students annually; and driving the employer communications strategy and employer-focused data collection efforts for the Center. The person in this role will also be cross trained on select Handshake functions to help provide backup coverage as needed. This position is supervised by the Associate Director of the Employer & Student Engagement Team, with additional support and insight provided by Executive Leadership within the Center.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with team and Center leadership, implement, manage and evaluate more than 10 events a year including Signature Career Fairs.
For in-person events: Secure venues, generate invitation lists, manage registrations, arrange transportation and parking, manage menus and retain other vendors.
For virtual events: Create event in appropriate system, generate invitation lists, manage registrations, oversee communications cadence and retain any necessary vendors.
Utilize Handshake to create and manage events, registrations and RSVP’s, and marketing and outreach to both employer/alumni and student populations.
Oversee day-of logistics and execution of selected events, including delegation or coordination of volunteer and staff support.
In addition to job and internship fairs, run several smaller events per quarter (including but not limited to: panels, networking sessions, lunch and learns and workshops) to connect current students with industry professionals such as recruiters and alumni.
Support campus partners in utilizing the Handshake Career Fair platform as needed.
As assigned, advise and assist in the development of targeted events and activities related to team and Center outreach and strategic goals.
Employer Outreach and Communication
Execute the Career & Internship Center Communications strategy for employers, which will be developed in collaboration with Associate Director and Executive Director.
Produce employer newsletter on a quarterly basis.
Oversee creation and production of marketing materials for career fairs and other events.
Determine a method for capturing panel-type events for future use on our website – posting recordings to appropriate pages, writing summary of key takeaways for our blog, etc.
Periodically create, or solicit from employers, original written content on pertinent Employer & Student Engagement themes for the Career & Internship Center blog and social media channels. These include, but are not limited to, employer “stories” of career development and progression; ‘employer voice’ advice on career-related or skill-development topics; social media ‘takeovers’ by employers; original blog and social media content highlight upcoming engagement opportunities on campus
Build and maintain an accurate and up-to-date campus career fair calendar, both internal and external-facing. This involves reaching out to partners on all 3 UW campuses.
Provide guidance to employers navigating career fair landscape and options at the University of Washington.
Data Collection and Management
Manage employer contacts document to track and highlight the employers who are most engaged with the Career & Internship Center
Identify trends in student attendance and interests to help determine which events to produce.
Develop survey and satisfaction indicators for employer engagement in fair-type events.
Develop student learning and impact surveys for panel-style events.
Work with campus partners to disaggregate attendance data and help determine outreach strategies to increase attendance of target populations.

Two years' experience in events management, marketing, communications, advancement or related field
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally to diverse audiences - in writing, online environments, one-to-one settings, and group settings
Proven ability to plan work effectively, manage projects, follow through to completion, and meet deadlines
Proficiency with computer applications and online platforms (i.e. MS Office, LinkedIn, Zoom, Skype)
Comfort and proficiency navigating, utilizing, and trouble-shooting issues in database programs.
Commitment to contributing to an inclusive work environment
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Evaluate and modify services, resources, and messaging to enhance access for students from historically underrepresented communities
Ability to give and receive positive and constructive feedback with peers and managers
Ability to think future-forward, experiment, innovate, assess, and adapt
Create and implement solutions to individual, team, and partnership challenges
Ability to work occasional evenings and occasional hours exceeding 40 in a week.
