Associate or Full Specialist - Gross Lab Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco
The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is now recruiting a Specialist at the Associate or Full ranks. The job responsibilities include performing cryoEM studies of Vif-APOBEC3(A3) complexes. This work is a key project for the NIH funded P50 center on HIV accessory proteins and complexes, which supports 13 independent laboratories from UCSF and UC Berkeley (see https://harc.ucsf.edu). Develop procedures for expressing and purifying the 7 protein Vif-E3 ligase complex bound to substrate A3 proteins and develop protocols for generating homogenous material for single-particle cryoEM.
Applicant must have a Ph.D. in Biochemistry
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills-
Funding for the position is limited to 1 years
Experience with protein expression and purification, using both prokaryotic and eukaryotic expression systems
Experience working with multiprotein complexes, enzyme activity assays
Experience with X-ray crystallography, including crystallization, data collection, and structure determination
Experience with single-particle cryo-electron microscopy, including: grid preparation, data acquisition, processing, and de novo structure determination
Salary and rank will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and training.
