About the Position:
Reporting to the Director of Budget Operations, the Sr. Budget & Finance Analyst will provide senior level budget analysis, forecasting and development support for their assigned area(s) in the Office of the Provost. This position will also prepare standard and adhoc reports for various audiences internal and external and will ensure that activities and initiatives are in compliance with University Policies and procedures.
Budget Development Forecasting and Management:
Provide revenue and expense reports that provides trend analysis and year end projections based on historical and current data;
Provide analysis for developing/reorganizing budgets;
Manage the position maintenance process;
Ensure the office of the Provost unit organizational structure aligns with the chart of accounts structure to ease and aid reporting;
Ensure expenses are paid from appropriate funding sources.
Identify current budgetary needs;
Ensure proper tracking and disbursement;
Ensure proper communication to internal and external clients;
Provide reports and analysis;
Make recommendations on how to meet strategic goals.
Review and approve payments made via HR and Purchasing;
Manage all Provost personnel access to financial systems;
Communicate Commonwealth and University policy and rule changes to Provost personnel.
Prepare reports and spreadsheets for new initiatives and projects;
Supervise wage employee(s) as assigned;
Perform other duties as assigned.
BA/BS degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
Strong communication skills (written and verbal);
Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into easily understood financial reports;
Ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with a population of diverse individuals;
Skilled at dealing with problems and finding workable solutions;
Experience pulling reports from various data sources to create easily understood reporting;
Strong organizational and financial skills;
Detail oriented with the ability to provide concise, easily understood summary data;
Intermediate MS Office skills in word processing, excel and access;
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
College Business Management Institute certificate (CBMI);
Advanced experience working with Excel and Access;
Experience working with University systems such as Ellucian Banner Systems, eVa, ChromeRiver and Microstrategy reports.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
