Under supervision, the Technician A will perform routine assignments requiring technical applications, or under direct supervision as a trainee will perform multiple assignments. The Technician A will perform the duties listed below, and other duties as assigned.
Clean surgical instruments after the surgeries, and prepare the packs for steam and gas sterilization. Sterilize, date, and shelve the surgery packs and sterile supplies. Assist ICM Quality Assurance in performing routine quality tests for steam and gas autoclaves. Be responsible for washing and drying of the re-usable surgical supplies. Perform autoclaving for the researchers on an as needed basis.
Maintain clean working environment in the operating rooms and support areas. Assist veterinary technicians with OR set up, and cleaning after surgeries. Perform daily/weekly floor sanitation in all OR rooms.
Check expiration dates on all items in all operating rooms, storage, large animal/NHP housing and procedure rooms as well as instrument packs at least monthly.
Perform daily unpacking, storage, and inventory of all supplies, including oxygen tanks.
Attend all appropriate ICM activities.
Two years of college or a completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology, or physics or a completed animal husbandry program or equivalent in education, training and/or experience.
