The Agard, Verba, and Rosenberg labs are looking to hire an experienced scientist and project manager to set up a cell-expression pipeline to power structural biology efforts. The project aims to characterize the host-pathogen interface for several intracellular pathogens at atomic resolution. The applicant will be based at the Mission Bay Campus of UCSF and will work collaboratively with a large group of innovative scientists at the interface of structural biology, protein chemistry and genetics. Although the position will be focused on the implementation of innovative technology to produce proteins for structural studies, there will be many opportunities for further training in structural biology (including single particle cryoEM) if this is of interest to the candidate.
Specific responsibilities will include: • Design and implementation of state-of-the-art methods to produce recombinant protein in mammalian cell culture. • Genomic editing of cell lines to promote protein expression and purification. • Cell analysis (cell counting, FACS). • Ability to think independently and drive a research program.
Requirements: • PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology. • Extraordinary attention to detail and ability to develop, follow and publish protocols. • Must be highly collaborative, team-oriented, and an effective communicator. • Experience with genomic engineering is a plus but not required. • Experience with high resolution structural biology is a plus but not required.
This opportunity is full-time only. No contractors, consultancies or recruiters will be considered.
