The Veteran's Certifying Specialist position certifies an average of 300 students per semester for veterans' and dependents' benefits covering books, housing, tuition and fees, responds to all related inquiries and coordinates removal of late fees and registration holds with SBS for students awaiting benefits payments. In addition, the incumbent provides support to students and advisors for enrollment activities at new student orientations and provides registration-related troubleshooting and customer services to students and faculty.
Process veterans certifications.
Respond to veterans certification-related inquiries, compilation of veteran student data for use by SBS, programming initiatives and communications, ongoing VA-related training and recertification activities.
Responds to general registration inquiries via help tickets, email, phone and in-person.
Assist students and advisors with enrollment related questions and processes during new student orientation programming.
Provides frontline coverage for Registrar's Office (phones, in-person, virtual) as part of a rotating staff schedule.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Requires a Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience in enrollment management related environment (registrar, admissions, financial aid).
Veterans Administration SCO certification (Veterans Certifying Official) is required within the first 90 days of employment.
One year of experience in a role supporting veteran students
High level of attention to detail
Excellent customer service skills
Ability to problem-solve
Works effectively in a team or independently
