Summary of Duties:
Reporting to and partnering with the VP for Advancement/WSUF CEO, the Assistant Vice President, Philanthropic Engagement and Campaign Communications (AVP) provides leadership and strategy to the Communications, Donor Relations/Stewardship and Events teams. Functioning as the Chief Donor Engagement Officer for WSUF, the AVP will serve as a member of the Advancement Leadership Team (ALT) and will be instrumental in crafting and implementing a unified philanthropic engagement plan that informs and engages key constituencies in support of University fundraising goals.
This is position may be eligible for remote work options. Remote work opportunity to be discussed at time of interview.
A Bachelor's degree in a related field and eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in the appropriate administrative/professional area. A Master's degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience. An advanced degree in a relevant field and senior-level management experience in an institution of higher education, governmental organization or a comparable corporate environment is preferred. A Juris Doctor degree may be required for selected positions.
Demonstrated success in conceptualization and development of marketing and communications, donor relations, and/or events initiatives and strategies.
Demonstrated success in executing campaign strategy, institutional marketing/strategic communications, unified messaging and brand development.
Record of creative and entrepreneurial management; the ability to build, lead, mentor and motivate staff; and the ability to encourage change and growth in both people and programs.
Experience leading and collaborating with marketing professionals, editors, graphic and Web designers/programmers, videographers and photographers to achieve strategic goals.
Experience leading and collaborating with staff to achieve strategic goals.
Proven ability to excel in a collaborative environment and work independently.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Expert knowledge of marketing and communications principles.
Expert knowledge of English writing and grammar.
Familiarity with web and print publishing concepts.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Knowledge and understanding of general fundraising fundamentals.
Demonstrated experience with writing for a variety of media and styles.
