The purpose of this position is to provide and promote a safe and positive learning environment for students in the nursing laboratory. This is carried out through the coordination of the laboratory working cooperatively with nursing faculty.
The nursing program has an extensive lab component. Based on requirements of the Kentucky Board of Nursing, we are required to have a designated lab support person for students. This has been a long-standing, fully funded position in nursing. This position is a new position to serve the new program site in Pikeville Kentucky. Travel to other campuses for work-related assignments may be required.
This is a defined-term, 10-month faculty contract position located on the Pikeville Campus.
Schedule in collaboration with nursing faculty, prepare needed supplies and environment and participate in skill demonstration.
Schedule in collaboration with nursing faculty, prepare needed supplies and environment and participate in skill exams.
Create patient simulations for practice and skill exams.
Schedule and participate in skill practice with students.
Maintain records of lab use and student progress.
Communicate with faculty about student progress.
Maintain (request/order) laboratory supplies and equipment and resources.
Maintain inventory of all laboratory equipment, audiovisuals, computer assisted instruction and simulation materials.
Other duties as assigned.
Duties include teaching face-to-face and online, advising, serving on college committees and participating in college events and activities, providing external service to the community and participating in professional development activities.
Associate degree in Nursing (BSN Preferred), Kentucky State RN License and 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
The employee may be required to complete the MSN within the first 5 years of employment. The requirement will be outlined with the employee by the program coordinator/supervisor after consultation with the Provost.
Diverse clinical experience involving performance of general skills taught in the program.
Basic knowledge of computer operation including use of office software, internet and use of electronic medical records.
Minimum Salary: $36,340 Annually
