The Food, Fitness, and Opportunity Research Collaborative (FFORC) at the Center for Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP) is hiring a Project Manager & Communications Strategist. FFORC has a strong focus on community engagement and this position will develop and lead dissemination of community-facing materials, including project reports, informational materials, and through the creation and execution of a social media strategy to further our community engaged-focus. The position will also lead communications of a professional nature, including preparing reports for fellow researchers and funders. Additionally, the position will provide project management for team initiatives addressing food equity, nutrition, physical activity, and economic well-being. Project management will entail developing a work plan, Institutional Review Board (IRB) submission and management, recruitment of participants, conducting data collection and evaluation, regular project reporting, and manuscript development. This position will be a part of FFORC’s Core Team and will be expected to participate in conversations around racial equity, project communication, and setting the direction of the team’s research agenda.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the field assigned and one year of related training or experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Must have knowledge of best practices in communications. This position requires the ability to think critically and act independently, developing a plan and goals, and working toward their achievement. Candidate must be able to work productively and collaboratively as a member of a diverse team in a remote context and in-person as the pandemic response allows, and to respect and encourage different points of view. This position requires leadership skills, the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and assignments autonomously, and a desire to immerse oneself in the most effective methods to translate our work and findings into digestible material.
The preferred candidate will have at least five years of experience working in a field related to public health, communications, and/or public relations. An emphasis on and commitment to social justice and equity is desired, and at least three years’ experience in project management. Familiarity with SNAP-Ed is a plus.
