As Director of Interprofessional Education and Practice (IPEP), this person will be responsible for taking the lead as IP expert and liaison, to enhance existing and develop newer interprofessional educational and clinical initiatives in the predoctoral curriculum. The incumbent will be responsible for coordination of educational and clinical experiences with an interprofessional focus, both within and outside of TUSDM.
The incumbent for this position receives general direction and support from the Department Chair. In addition, the individual will be expected to streamline efforts to nurture and cultivate internal and external relationships to improve patient-centered care through interprofessional educational and clinical experiences.
Program Development and Leadership:
Assumes primary responsibility for creating, coordinating, promoting and conducting IPEP experiences through collaborations.
Contributes to the creation and design of practical frameworks and resources for the incorporation of IPEP experiences for students and faculty.
Maintains and revises, as needed, an educational plan that includes educational objectives relating to knowledge, skills and attitudes regarding IPEP.
Establishes quantitative and qualitative measures to assess programs on an ongoing basis.
Department expert on IPEP working with multiple teams and committees.
Oversees the ongoing collection of data for strategic planning reporting.
Collaboration and Communication
Effectively communicates IPEP vision demonstrating the importance of positive health outcomes in comprehensive patient care.
Develops partnerships with other health professionals to enhance educational and clinical experiences.
Education Requirements and Research Programs
Establishes, maintains and documents program compliance with ADA/CODA accreditation standards.
Coordinate IPEP activities of TUSDM students with other health or related professional programs to assure educational and clinical experiences aligned with curricular goals.
Establishes, maintains and documents competency assessments in knowledge, attitude, skill and behaviors related to IPEP for the predoctoral curriculum.
Identifies and recommends research strategies in supporting and determining effective translation of IPEP.
Personnel and Financial Management and Development
Assists the Department Chair in assessing IPEP integration through written feedback in accordance with University and School policies.
Responsible for managing the IPEP budget.
7-10 years (ideally dental/medical/nursing) experience required
Required education: MD, PA, RN, NP, DO or equivalent
Special licenses required: Appropriately licensed to practice or eligibility to obtain license to practice in MA.
Required computer/technical skills: experience with electronic health records
Experience in higher education or academic medical/dental center preferred.
Experience working with multiple health professional disciplines.
Clinical experience (Physician, Physician Assistant, Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine).
Team-based, patient centered care experience.
Experience in strategic planning.
