Job Description Summary: The Department of Nursing at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri, is seeking an Assistant Professor in Nursing. This is a tenure track faculty position. The successful candidate will teach in person evening courses at the graduate level and occasionally an online undergraduate course, undertake requisite academic scholarship; as well as assist in all responsibilities of faculty members in the department, college, and university. Individuals with content expertise or significant experience in the nurse educator role are encouraged to apply. Experience teaching is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications 1) Candidates must possess a PhD, DNP or DNS in Nursing or have documentation that supports anticipated completion of a PhD, DNP, or DNS in Nursing by May 2022. 2) Unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Missouri. 3) Minimum two years of experience in nursing practice 4) Preference will be given to candidates possessing a record of nursing scholarship 5) Preference will be given for teaching experience
Essential Duties The successful candidate will be expected to: +Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level as assigned by the department chair in the faculty members area(s) of specialization with the standard enrollment for each course as set by the department +Teach a schedule made up of a combination of the standard class meeting times (in-person [primarily and often, entirely], and or online), as determined by the department chair, to meet instructional need +Maintain current knowledge of the discipline and expert content areas by staying current with new and emerging theory, applications, and teaching approaches +Present course material in a clear, organized manner using methodologies appropriate to the discipline-e.g., lecture, demonstration, technology +Explain course expectations clearly to students +Adhere to the requirements of the departments curriculum +Adhere to all university safety policies regarding classroom equipment and materials +Complete all required university trainings (for example, related to privacy and Title IX) +Grade assigned papers, examinations, or projects in a timely manner so that students may benefit from feedback +Provide students with individualized help and consultation as needed +Meet administrative requirements and deadlines such as those for submitting course syllabi, conducting student course evaluations, and submitting final grades +Use technology as established and communicated by the university to carry out the administrative duties associated with teaching +Engage in professional development/scholarship independently, with peers, and/or students +Advise undergraduate and graduate students +Assist with curriculum development and revision, program review, accreditation processes, and program management +Participate in department, school, and university ceremonies, activities and other service +Share in the administrative responsibilities of the department, including potential future roles as program coordinator and department chair +And fulfill all other responsibilities of a full-time faculty member.
