The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Cancer Center is looking for a highly motivated and collaborative scientist to lead a bioinformatics team in our Sequencing Technology and Analysis Resource (CSHL-STAR). The CSHL-STAR is a part of the CSHL Cancer Center and develops new technologies at the cutting edge of genome science – including new assays that take advantage of long-read and single-cell sequencing. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in a bioinformatics-related field (e.g., Bioinformatics, Biology, Computational Biology, Computer Science) with a strong background in basic biology and computational methods. The candidate must be fluent in one or more programming languages (Python, Perl, R, C++, etc.) and comfortable using UNIX-based high performance compute clusters. The candidate must also be familiar with standard bioinformatics software tools used in computational genomics. Additional desirable skills include familiarity with: algorithm development, database management, statistical modeling, web page development, and web server management.
