Bachelorâs degree. Current State of Iowa teaching license (initial, standard, or master) in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education or Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Education Endorsement (endorsement 100 and/or 103).

The Child Development Laboratory School at Iowa State University is seeking applications for an Early Childhood Teacher to educate a group of young children, including children with disabilities.
Assessment of childrenâs development
Plan and implement activities to meet individual child needs
Collaborative activities with other Lab School staff
Communication with parents
Work with Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) faculty who place practicum students in the Lab School.

Example of Duties â¢ Plans and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum focusing on meeting the needs of the individual child, and of small and large groups of children. â¢ Writes developmental summaries of children based on observation and interaction. â¢ Supervises the classroom when the lead teacher is not present. â¢ Serves as a role model for best practice in the classroom. â¢ Engages with parents daily initiating written and/or face-to-face communication taking into consideration the communication needs of those with diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds. â¢ Conducts parent-teacher conferences each semester. â¢ Participates in parent orientation. â¢ Helps plan and attends family events. â¢ Assists in partnerships with departments on campus to encourage non-HDFS student use of the Lab School. â¢ Maintains a safe classroom through adherence to DHS, NAEYC, QRS, CACFP, Caring for Our Children, and other safety standards recognized by the field of early childhood. â¢ Maintains adherence to state âteacher-to-childâ ratios for their age group. â¢ Annually updates professional folder and maintains current state of Iowa teaching license (initial, standard, or master). â¢ May assist lead teacher in supervision and assessment of practicum students.
