The Research Project Manager will lead administrative and organizational support of the Extreme Light Laboratory at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Responsibilities include: Contribute to overall strategic planning and development by leading experimental and project planning sessions with faculty, scientists, and students. Learn and work with research grant work statements. Work with the principal investigator and project members to develop comprehensive action plans for projects and experiments, monitor task completion, and ensure all project activities are completed on schedule. Implement project management tools tailored for scientific development to be used by scientists and students. Document project progress for annual reporting and evaluation metrics and reviews for compliance with federal regulations. Develop and maintain project management/communication tools. Provide administrative support for project meetings and associated travel; and assists with onboarding new project members. Prepare reports for upper management regarding status of project. Work with all team members to set priorities and deadlines. Work with each individual team member to develop individual goals for career advancement. Coach faculty and senior scientists on leadership techniques to improve team cohesiveness and engagement. Coordinate with outside agencies, external consultants, etc. to facilitate delivery of technical assistance in support of projects. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is encouraged.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Business Administration or related field, plus two years of experience in project management, business, laboratory, or information management. Proficiency with PC-based word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Demonstrated excellence in at least three of these skills: problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, time management, interpersonal, facilitation, and/or communication skills. Ability to multi-task, work independently, and facilitate transparent communication between diverse teams. Knowledge of budgeting and project management principles. Experience in promoting teamwork of a diverse group of individuals
Master's degree in business administration or related field. Education or training in engineering or physics. Experience providing post-award oversight for grants and/or contracts. Experience with project management software programs. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Knowledge of data management practices and technologies.
