The Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine (IUSM) invites applications for two postdoctoral fellowships. The positions will offer significant opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research, refine analytic skills and generate publications. The fellow will be involved in conducting quantitative research focused on a cohort of mothers and their babies with opioid exposure or neonatal abstinence syndrome diagnoses. Specific projects include exploring the epidemiology of connection to treatment and other social services among these mothers and tracking developmental outcomes of their children using a wide variety of existing data. These data include clinical, public health, justice, and social services data. The fellowship will be for one year.
Additional development opportunities include participating in seminars and work-in-progress sessions and training in health services research, informatics, and public health research. The current fellowship is a position within the Child Health Services Research division but with access to faculty within Neonatology, Adolescent Medicine, Internal Medicine, and the Regenstrief Institute. Thus, fellows would have access to over forty interdisciplinary faculty, nine post-doctoral fellows and several support staff engaged in extramurally-funded research. Applicants in any area of study (public health, health services research, criminology, informatics, psychology, sociology, etc.) who are interested in an academic career with a research focus are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate strong writing skills, robust data management and quantitative analysis training, and interests that align with research involving vulnerable populations. Eligible candidates must have a doctoral degree in fields such as epidemiology, informatics, sociology, statistics, or health science (e.g., PhD) or a doctorate in a clinical science (e.g., MD).
