The Senior Retail Manager, reporting to an Operations or General Manager, will display strong leadership to ensure a memorable dining experience and a strong financial contribution of assigned retail dining unit(s). The Senior Retail Manager must inspire and motivate a team of front line staff and managers by providing regular oversight and support in areas such as product and presentation, on-the-job coaching and feedback, staff training and development, as well as food safety, sanitation, and quality assurance. The Sr. Retail Manager will assess ongoing training needs, and evaluating individual and team performance and look to promote diversity and inclusive workplace behaviors that propel the team to create a positive and safe customer experience. The Sr. Dining Manager will contribute to developing pricing strategies, product ordering, and inventory levels to ensure a strong financial contribution and efficient operating budget ranging up to $5 million annually.
A successful Senior Retail Manager, will
Monitor and evaluate the dining unit(s) financial environment and other business indicators and regularly look to implement and improve operational efficiencies and profitability
Display strong leadership and communicates effectively with a multi-layered team and establishes a pattern of management to inspire, monitor, and maintain, clean, attractive and safe facilities for our guest and our staff.
Demonstrate strong problem solving & prioritization skills to resolve unexpected issues in a timely way to complete service periods without the expected staff or equipment resources.
Develop and maintain strong and lasting relationships with our campus partners, our clients, and our service providers through demonstrated and applied customer service practices and quickly responding to known concerns
Be actively involved with all staff and continually look to motivate, develop and manage performance through regular hands-on training and daily feedback and coaching that ensures a productive and effective team.
Ensure Dining and University policies and procedures are implemented and maintained in a positive and consistent manner
Bachelor's degree in culinary arts or hospitality management and three or more years of food service experience which must include both hands-on work and supervisory duties or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Previous supervisory experience or experience in managing effective teams
Technical/computer skills, including experience with MS Word Office productivity tools
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
Working knowledge of appropriate food and health codes
Unit assignments and schedules are likely to change. Individual must be able to work varied and extended hours including nights, weekends and some holidays.
Additional professional or education experience preferably in a high-quality, high-volume, collegiate dining program with multiple unit account management in board plan & retail operations with knowledge of menu-cycles.
Experience with Point-of-Sales Systems and basic accounting principles
