Provide X-Ray services for the patients at the MSU Student Health Center. Use of the digital X-Ray system and processing of results. Requires scheduling of outsourced exams and conducting EKG's and spirometry tests.
Employees hired into Intermittent positions are limited to working no more than 720 hours per fiscal year.
The following examples are intended as illustrations only of the various types of duties assigned in positions allocated to this classification. Prepares patient for procedures; explains procedures, transfers patients to equipment, positions patients as appropriate to the specified procedure, and assists patient at end of procedures. 2. Position imaging equipment and adjust controls to set exposure time and distance, according to specification of examination. 3. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific x-rays; adjusts equipment; determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain position of patient; adjusts lead shield; selects proper film. 4. Maintains stock supplies and assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase; performs general office duties such as delivering and retrieving film, recording procedure codes for billing purposes, typing forms, and scheduling patients. 5. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. 6. Use radiation safety measures and protection devices to comply with government regulations and to ensure safety of patients and staff. 7. Key data into computer to document and specify scan 8. Monitor patient's conditions and reactions, reporting abnormal signs to physician. 9. Record, process and maintain patient data and treatment records, and prepare reports. Ensuring they are placed in the proper medical record 10. Coordinate work with clerical personnel and other professional staff. Including coordination with the contract Radiologist for over reads and reports of findings 11. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
1. Degree in Radiologic Technology. 2. Hold current license with authority to practice in Mississippi. 3. At least one years experience in the field of radiology.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress. * Knowledge of the physical and operational characteristics of radiologic equipment. * Ability to safely lift, and physically manipulate patients. * Knowledge of x-ray principles, procedures and standards. * Ability to use electronic medical record system * Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. * Ability to calibrate, configure, and adjust x-ray equipment and associated facilities and devices in accordance with procedures and standards. * Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. * Knowledge of appropriate x-ray exposure times and safety parameters. * Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel. * Knowledge of sterile procedures.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
* Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment. * Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. * Moderate physical activity. Requires occasional handling and maneuvering of persons in excess of 100 pounds.
