Veterinary Technician - Internal Medicine Special Procedures - (21001444)
The Henry and Lois Foster Hospital for Small Animals provides 24-hour care for pets 365 days of the year. Since 1979, we have offered high quality medical care, consultation, referral, and emergency veterinary services for the care of dogs, cats, and exotic pets. In addition, the hospital creates a positive learning experience for TCSVM students, student technicians, interns and residents about small animal medicine and surgery.
Joining our team as the Veterinary Technician for the Internal Medicine Service in charge of special procedures technician means being an integral part of one of the largest specialty teams in the hospital. Every day is different and engaging. You will perform novel procedures and gain experience with fascinating and unique cases. The special procedures technician orchestrates all aspects of performing endoscopic procedures including respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urinary interventions. Additionally, this technician assists the clinician with procedures such as stenting, cystoscopy-guided laser ablation and many more. They will work closely with clinicians, residents, interns, students and technician teams from anesthesia and diagnostic imaging.

Tasks associated with this position:
Effectively work with clinical and administrative professionals
Coordinate and schedule procedures with other departments
Administer anesthesia and monitor patient as needed
Set up and prepare for special procedures
Assist with special procedures while teaching clinicians, students, and technicians
Maintain area and all equipment, keep service records and contracts
Research new procedures and equipment
Generate and complete daily sterilization and scope logs
Collect and prepare specimens for cytology, microbiology, and pathology

High school diploma (or the equivalent) and at least two years of related experience.
Familiarity with medical terminology, veterinary pharmacology, and animal behavior.
