Dept Marketing Statement Under direction of the TAPS Operations Manager, the incumbent provides administrative and staffing support for the daily field operation of TAPS Event Parking. Major duties include the hiring and training of 30-50 student employees annually, oversight of the traffic-control program, and coordination of student Event Staff for delivering a broad range of parking-related services for regular and special events on campus. Training of students includes an emphasis on following university cash handling procedures during permit sales and at post-event reconciliation.

Job Duties 40%: Event Operations
Check FileMaker Pro database regularly to determine upcoming events.
Determine staffing needs for each event.
Create and maintain staffing schedule.
Work with TAPS Event Parking Coordinator to determine additional event needs.
Maintain field equipment at all storage locations (e.g. barricades, delineators, radios, cones, whistles, vests, signage, etc.) and provide recommendations to the TAPS Operations Manager on the purchase of new equipment as needed.
Oversee the creation, posting, monitoring, and removal of signs.
Inventory equipment and permits on a quarterly basis.
Oversee large event parking operations with TAPS Event Field Operations Lead.
Oversee traffic-control for high-volume events (e.g., Commencement, Move-In/Out) with UC Police Department.
Communicate with customers in the field to solicit additional information or respond to complaints.
Schedule TAPS Events and Maintenance vehicles for routine and supplemental maintenance and maintain monthly mileage logs.
30%: Traffic Control Operations
Oversee Traffic Control Operations to support busy intersections during peak hours of the academic year and move traffic seamlessly through the campus at the busy intersections.
Train new students regarding safety, responsibility, and the logistics of each intersection. Observe students in the field until they are ready to work unsupervised.
Recommend potential new locations and determine safe staffing levels and procedures.
Hire and train between 30-50 student employees. This includes intersection-specific logistics for traffic-control program and permit and cash handling procedures for both on-site sales and the post-event reconciliation processes for event parking.
Identify and provide additional training to 4-6 student Leads, who have a deeper understanding of the operation, additional authority, and more responsibilities.
Reconcile scheduling program with student timesheets.
Approve student timesheets.
Monitor student return of all equipment (e.g., vests, gloves, whistles, lanyards) checked out to them and submit reconciliation to Business Office for billing.
Coordinate and manage parking lot surveys.
5%: Additional Duties
Provide feedback regarding short and long-term program improvements to Supervisor.
Work field shifts as needed.
Represent TAPS Event Parking at various campus meetings.
Act as Events Field Operations Coordinator Lead backup.
Act as Event Coordinator backup.
Attend required trainings both on and off campus.
Other duties as assigned.
Skill and experience providing and demonstrating excellent customer service.
Supervisory skills sufficient to assign and monitor workload, evaluate performance and perform disciplinary actions when required for student employees.
Leadership and interpersonal skills, including ability to organize workflow, delegate responsibility and motivate staff.
Experience in cash handling and record keeping skills and the ability to perform with a high degree of accuracy, in compliance with all campus policies and procedures.
Related operational experience sufficient to manage large student based operation.
Ability to comprehend, interpret and relay procedural information with credibility and confidence.
Experience with cash handling to reconcile permit sales cash and credit card sales discrepancies and resolve other problems.
Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling confidential situations or materials.
Experience completing multiple and competing job responsibilities in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment.
Organizational and time management skills sufficient to prioritize work and function under pressure of meeting deadlines with frequent interruptions and with strict attention to detail.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with students, faculty, staff, and co-workers of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Ability to present a positive, service-oriented public image and maintain a courteous and harmonious working relationship with the campus community, other department staff, and members of the public.
Experience and knowledge to solve problems using good judgment.

Ability to use a computer and computer programs (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, scheduling software), as well as a variety of office machines and a two-way radio.
Experience and knowledge of safety issues as they pertain to services provided in roadways (e.g., selling permits, traffic-control).
Ability to adhere to time and attendance requirements and punctuality standards.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and legally.
