Dept Marketing Statement Colleges, Housing, and Educational Services (CHES) is a multi-funded organization within the Business and Administrative Services (BAS) division at the University of California (UC) Santa Cruz. CHES provides leadership in the areas of college student life and residential services, housing services, facilities, employee housing and capital planning, dining services, conference services, early education services, the Bay Tree Bookstore, ID card services, and business and financial analysis for these areas.
CHES provides on-campus housing and dining services to approximately 9,500 undergraduate and graduate students in ten residential colleges and six multi-college affiliated residential communities, which support single students and students with families.
UC Santa Cruz Dining is instrumental in the success of our students as well as providing services to staff, faculty and guests of the campus. Under the general supervision of the Manager, the Driver is responsible for the safe transport of bakery and/or commissary food items to all dining services units. The Driver is also responsible for the care and cleaning of all delivery transits, inventory of all pans used in deliveries, keeping a delivery log and other duties as assigned.
Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule Salary Information: $22.92 / Hourly
Reviews daily delivery sheets with assigned manager, plans and coordinates the daily delivery schedule.
Gathers and loads the truck with bakery goods and commissary items for delivery to other units; makes all deliveries in a safe and timely manner. Loads and unloads exchange carts and pans on truck for return to main unit. Reports any shortages and overages to production staff.
Assists in coordinating exchanges of products and supplies between units. Stocks locations with supplies. Properly receives and stores deliveries and takes inventory as required.
Responsible for maintaining register reports at coffee carts and for transporting cash and cashiers to cash room. Responsible for reading, filling, delivering orders and tracking delivery paperwork.
10%- Safety and Sanitation
Cleans all transit carts regularly as needed.
Maintains high sanitation standards for truck and food carts by regularly cleaning and sanitizing.
Maintains temperature logs and other food safety procedures during the transport process.
10% - Vehicle Maintenance and Service
Inspects vehicle daily and reports any defects or mechanical malfunctions to immediate supervisor.
Responsible for fueling vehicle from the transportation garage. Completes and maintains accurate service records and daily mileage forms.
Maintains appropriate security of vehicle at all times.
5% - Other Duties As Assigned
Will drive campus-owned vehicles and/or a personal vehicle to perform various duties, including, but not limited to, deliveries between Dining units, catered events, training, quality control within locations, cashier deposits, and other driving duties as assigned.
Operates vehicle in safe and legal manner as stated in California driving regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of departmental food specifications and procedures for safe handling and transport of food.
Communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with Dining Services employees, as well as other campus staff.
Proven experience in safe driving of a delivery truck.
Organizational skills to effectively manage time and ensure the best use of truck space and other assigned University resources.
