Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager for the Community Health and Aging Outcomes (CHAO) Lab, within the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research. The Project Manager is responsible for managing day-to-day research project operations, including, but not limited to: training and supervising research staff, managing project datasets, conducting analyses, and handling IRB and CMSDUA submissions. The Project Manager assists with grant proposal, progress report, and manuscript preparation.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Responsible for design of high-level data architecture and project workflows; leads data documentation, resource sharing, and support to analytic team (working closely with senior data analyst).
Provides high level analytical, technical and methodological guidance and expertise to grant applications, progress reports, and manuscripts, and may assume the role of principal investigator on appropriate projects.
Responsible for handling administrative aspects/tracking of lab projects including CMS DUAs, IRB, and coordination with core facilities and consultants.
Generates and explores ideas for data-driven stories and for how they might be developed and visualized for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Performs other duties as required in support of the lab's research mission.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's degree in a relevant discipline including Epidemiology, Statistics/Biostatistics, Health Informatics/IT, Policy Analysis, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Security.
A minimum of five (5) years of data management and analysis experience in a social science, health services, or policy environment and/or training in advanced research methods.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to lead and manage others without a direct reporting relationship.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
Strong computer and organizational skills, including skills in data management and analysis.
Proficiency with SAS statistical software and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential.
Strong understanding of best practices for data security, and documenting and validating statistical code.
Interest in data journalism, aging, health equity, or health policy.
Experience working with Medicare/Medicaid administrative, assessment, claims, encounter and other health utilization data.
Extensive knowledge of data management and manipulation using: Excel, SAS, Stata, SQL, Python, R, geographic mapping software or other business/data analytics tool (e.g. Tableau).
Experience working within CMSVRDC and/or GitHub environment.
Microsoft Office products
Software packages such as SAS, Stata, or R for statistical programming and complex data manipulation.
Software packages such as ArcGIS, Tableau, or Canvas for data visualization and data journaling.
GitHub for collaboration and resource sharing.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Office environment, including some telecommuting (ability to work productively from home).
