This is a half-time, one-year, term-limited position with full Harvard University benefits.
Reporting to the Project Manager and supporting a team of four, the Project Assistant provides financial processing, communications, and administrative support for the Presidential Initiative on Harvard and Legacy of Slavery.
Fields general inquiries and communicates Initiative opportunities to the Harvard community
Oversees the administration of the Initiative's student grant program
Tracks the student grant application process
Drafts notifications to applicants
Schedules grant cohort meetings and guest speakers
Oversees financial processes related to the student grant program
Works with the project manager and other team members to maintain and update the Initiative's website to publicize:
Student grants and opportunities
Ideas and news
Ensures all assigned financial transactions are processed in an accurate and timely manner in accordance with established processes
Process Initiative invoices
Process purchase orders in the Buy-To-Pay system
Track Initiative expenses
Supports Initiative programming by assisting with all logistical aspects of program delivery, which may include but are not limited to:
scheduling meetings for the project team,
maintaining and organizing program materials,
gathering, and maintaining program data, and
providing event support
Other duties as assigned

High school diploma or GED required.Education or training beyond high school is preferred.
Three years' related administrative experience, preferably in higher education administration. Additional education beyond high school may count toward experience.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new technology quickly.
Ability to work in a busy office with competing demands, not easily flustered or overwhelmed by a high volume of activity and projects, has good judgment, and displays integrity and trust with a demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required, and the ability to work independently.
Must have a high level of professionalism and the ability to troubleshoot.
Must be a flexible team player.
Research experience a plus.
