Posted: 14-Mar-22 Location: Nationwide Salary: Open Internal Number: 2922647 ![]() Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Ladder Rank/In-Residence/Clinical X - Division of Gastroenterology The Department of Internal Medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for one full-time position in the Ladder Rank/In-Residence/Clinical X Professor Series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. The position will be primarily dedicated to developing a basic research program in liver disease with an emphasis on the role of the microbiome in cholestatic liver diseases. The candidate will be expected to develop an independently funded, multi-disciplinary lab-based research program. Generous resources and time for research will be provided. Clinical responsibilities will include providing hepatology outpatient consultations and endoscopic procedures as well as sharing in the inpatient Hepatology consultation service. Educational responsibilities will include supervision of consultations and procedures by fellows, residents, and medical students as well as providing lectures to various audiences. UC Davis Health serves a 65,000-square-mile area that includes 33 counties and 6 million residents across Northern and Central California. The UC Davis Medical Center is a 600-plus bed hospital that admits more than 30,000 patients per year with an emergency room that sees more than 210 patients per day on average. The GI Division currently includes 19 faculty who provide services at 5 clinics and 4 ambulatory endoscopy units. The division has a long-standing history of providing outstanding patient care and medical education focused on the training of GI Fellows. The Fellowship Program admits 3 fellows annually as well as a fellow for advanced endoscopic training. The faculty includes 5 hepatologists. A Liver Transplant Program is planned to open with this position providing some effort towards the program. Appointees to the Ladder Rank/In-Residence/Clinical X series are required to engage in creative activity that can include clinical/translational research, teaching, patient care and university service. The successful candidate will have demonstrated excellence in providing research productivity, a defined area of research interest, track record of teaching and mentorship, and outstanding skills in gastroenterology care.
