Internal Number: 93815 SCHOOL/UNIT DESCRIPTION: Since its founding in 1980, the Stanford Humanities Center has been sponsoring advanced research into the historical, philosophical, literary, artistic, and cultural dimensions of the human experience. It is an independent research center reporting to the Dean of Research. The Center's annual fellows, international visitors, research workshops, and roughly twenty annual public events strengthen the intellectual and creative life of the university, and foster innovative and interdisciplinary scholarship and teaching. Through a partnership with the renowned Center for Spatial and Textual Analysis (CESTA), the Humanities Center embraces emerging digital methods to complement traditional kinds of analysis and interpretation. Together, the Stanford Humanities Center and CESTA serve as the hub of an international network of fellows, visiting scholars, students, and alumni.

POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Faculty Director, the Associate Director is the senior administrative staff member of the Stanford Humanities Center and oversees the development, implementation and administration of Center programs, financial management and planning, human resources administration, and operations, including developing and managing institutional partnerships and collaborations. The Associate Director represents the Humanities Center to faculty and humanities institutions within the university and worldwide, acts as liaison with affiliated institutions, foundations, and sponsors, and advises the Director on matters pertaining to university relations, institutional strategies, and programmatic priorities. The Associate Director participates in all policy-making and significant decisions within the Center and in the evaluation of fellowship candidates. The Associate Director assists the Director and Assistant Director in seeking external funding.
This is a 100% FTE, three-year fixed-term position, with the possibility for renewal. For consideration, please submit resume. All final candidates must complete a background check.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Advanced degree and five years of relevant experience in area of specialization or combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience. PhD in a Humanities or qualitative social science field preferred. Experience managing a budget and developing financial plans. Experience developing program partnerships and funding sources.
