Internal Number: 94046 The Stanford University Department of Public Safety exists to provide a safe, secure atmosphere which is conducive to freedom of expression and movement, for all people and their property at Stanford University, within the constraints of the Federal, State, and Local laws and ordinances. The members of the Stanford Department of Public Safety are committed to providing high quality public safety services to the Stanford Community with a strong emphasis on customer service.
The successful incumbent must be able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously; balance a demanding workload independently; and exercise critical and data analytical skills. The incumbent will be provided with a department-issued cell phone and will be required to be available by phone during non-scheduled work hours in order to resolve issues or provide information about key issues related to the work. In this role you will be required to: * Review and analyze data related to a variety of areas including but not limited to calls for service, special event response, use of force, training, etc.; create and publish reports; develop recommendations based on the data designed to achieve or modify the goals of the program or function. * Evaluate programs or functions, policies and procedures within Public Safety. Identify issues, and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies and procedures. * Represent specific projects within the department. Work collaboratively with other department members as well as those outside the department. * Provide direction and support to a project team in whatever capacity is necessary: project-based needs, technical, or interpersonal needs; motivate team members and manage project team dynamics; act as liaison, problem solver and facilitator. * Develop and help execute comprehensive strategies and communication plans relative to specific projects with a focus on stakeholders including participants, collaborators and group members; actively manage resistance to change in order to build support for the project in line with the goals and mission of the department. * Develop processes designed to solicit feedback for various Public Safety programs; review and synthesize information so that managers can incorporate appropriate changes based on the feedback. * Lead the planning and operations for programs or functions that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise. * Manage and contribute to the development of community outreach strategies that may include relationship development, communications and compliance. * Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Lead projects requiring functional integration. * Implement the Incident Command System during large scale and/or high profile special events and critical incidents with a specific focus on developing situational awareness and disseminating information.
