Internal Number: 94297 At the Stanford Center for Biomedical Research (BMIR) we develop cutting-edge ways to acquire, represent, and process information about human health. To handle the ever-increasing data in healthcare and biomedical research, our faculty, students, and staff investigate and create novel computational, statistical, organizational, and decision-making methods. Our research advances the state of the art in semantic technology, biostatistics, and the modeling of biomedical systems to benefit clinical and translational research as well as patient care. BMIR seeks a Software Developer 3 to perform advanced and diverse user interface and user experience (UI/UX) development work involving multi-project and broad responsibilities. Successful candidates should be able to contribute to all project phases, from systems analysis through implementation, test, and evaluation, and will work on systems and programs typically covering multiple and/or large systems and functions. Candidates should expect to provide state of the practice and state of the art UI development skills across BMIR, including on the CEDAR project (https://metadatacenter.org). CEDAR is a form-based metadata system emphasizing rigorous semantic technologies and streamlined modeling capabilities for biomedical and other research projects. It is one of several BMIR open-source projects with widespread international use and multi-year funding that will benefit from a systematic, supportable approach to the user experience. The successful applicant will have 4+ years of experience as a front-end developer of rich applications with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, using front-end frameworks (such as React, Angular, and Vue.js) and test frameworks (such as Selenium and Robot). 2+ years of experience as a back-end developer in Java is a plus. Some experience with Ruby and Ruby on Rails is desired but not essential. Experience with design systems such as Material Design, UI frameworks such as Bootstrap, and design solutions such as Adobe XD is strongly desired; proficiency with visual design software such as Adobe Photoshop and diagramming software such as Lucidchart and OmniGraffle is a plus. Design experience for internationalization and accessibility is required, and a deep background in those areas is a plus. Duties include:
