Internal Number: 93617 SCHOOL/UNIT DESCRIPTION: The Department of Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) at Stanford University supports and advances the teaching, learning and research activities at Stanford by promoting a safe and healthy campus environment. POSITION SUMMARY: The EH&S Health Physics (HP) group develops and administers the institutional radiation safety, laser safety, and electromagnetic safety programs. The Health Physics program is seeking a Medical-Radiation Physicist to support the radiation safety program, with emphasis in radiation safety at Stanford University, Stanford Health Care (SHC), Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (LPCH), and the Veterans Affairs Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS). This position will also review proposed research uses of x-rays, evaluate, calculate and estimate risks of patient doses, and provide investigators with estimates and advice on radiation safety issues and solutions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience: Master's degree in medical physics, or related field with seven years of applicable experience in health physics/medical physics and program management performing duties similar to those listed above.
Desired: Experience working with radiology imaging equipment including radiography, fluoroscopy, mammography, and CT. Nuclear medicine is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Certifications and Licenses: American Board of Radiology or equivalent diagnostic imaging certification, or on track for certification.
