This requires strong organization skills, a thorough understanding of people, data and systems required to do the work. While responsible for leading a large and diverse team, the incumbent must be able to work independently, own their work, set priorities, multitask and see projects through to completion. DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW The Office of Undergraduate Admissions generates, reviews, and processes in excess of 67,000 applications and serves approximately 38,000 campus visitors each year. The office has 44 career staff FTE, 45-50 part-time/temporary staff, and 150 student staff. Staff work locally and regionally throughout California and the nation. The office is part of Enrollment Management, which includes Financial Aid and Scholarships, Orientation and Undergraduate Admissions. Enrollment Management is part of the multi-faceted academic Division of Undergraduate Education. Undergraduate Admissions, Enrollment Management and Undergraduate Education work closely with select Academic Senate committees. More information can be found here: admissions.ucsc.edu JOB SUMMARY The Associate Director for Evaluations, Processing and Operations (EPA) provides leadership and direction to the units responsible for application evaluation for admission and transfer credit to the University, processing of student records, and articulation. The Associate Director establishes operational policies and procedures, ensures policy compliance and security of student data and records; manages human and budget resources; and recommends actions to the Director regarding short and long range planning and serves on systemwide and campus committees. The Associate Director assesses workflow, design and implement strategic operations plans to ensure priorities, deadlines and goals are met, with a focus on increasing efficiencies through technological solutions. They recommend changes to operations; developing or updating policies, business processes and training documentation to ensure business continuity. The AD is responsible for leading EPA units in maximizing human and financial resources to achieve system-wide and campus enrollment goals. The Associate Director has overall responsibility for working cooperatively with the academic senate, administrative and academic units across campus (faculty, deans, directors, staff) as well as high school and community college officials and prospective students and their families - in support of the university's academic mission/programs; is the central communication source in the office for admissions policy; serves as the primary department contact for the colleges, deans and faculty relative to applicant data and records. The Associate Director must articulate a vision for their units, communicate clear expectations and mentor a team of six direct reports. In the absence of the Director, the Associate Director will act for the Director in campus and systemwide meetings on matters that fall within their purview. A member of the executive leadership team, the AD will work collaboratively with colleagues to strengthen infrastructure, take a digital first approach, and ensure proper alignment of resources to achieve campus enrollment goals.
