Accounting Manager, Stanford Law School (Hybrid Position)

We are seeking an Accounting Manager to lead accounting support at Stanford Law School. Reporting to the Senior Director of Business Affairs, the position is crucial in supporting the daily business operations of the school, and an essential resource for law school personnel (faculty, academic and staff) and students. This position assumes the responsibility for ensuring compliance with University policies and regulatory requirements and serves as a liaison to University central offices. The Accounting Manager will perform accounting functions including analyzing Law School expenditure statements, reconciling complex accounting transactions, reviewing multiple accounts and transactions, and ensuring financial compliance with university policies. In this role you will lead, train, review, and coach the accounting-related work of law school administration. Serve as a valued accounting resource for colleagues both inside and outside of the school.

Duties:

• Analyze accounting transactions and information to summarize current financial position. Construct and assemble data for decision making, develop conclusions, and present summary of recommendations.
• Collect data and perform research on transactions. Generate, review, and communicate information that reflects actual financial activity against budget. Prepare and present quantitative and qualitative analyses focusing on variances.
• Capture, track, and report revenue, transfers, and expense. Determine appropriate practices for accounting record preparation, research of transactions, and reporting.
• Evaluate, maintain, and review school-wide internal accounting process controls; recommend potential areas of improvement, and implement and maintain new accounting procedures that will upgrade targeted areas.
• Run weekly, monthly and ad hoc financial and labor management reports, often from multiple university systems.
• Execute internal control programs approved by Law School leadership. Contribute to the management of the school's compliance program, including the running of existing reports and the creation of new complex reports.
• Review, process, and compile accounting transactions and documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance. Resolve transactional inquiries, escalate broader issues. Reconcile and resolve issues associated with complicated transactions.
• Contribute to Law School accounting policies and strategies. Assist in the development of change management plans and materials. Participate as a member of an accounting process improvement team; support new initiatives.
• Maintain school accounting files and desktop procedures. Ensure compliance with University policies, Law School guidelines, and federal regulations and requirements.
