Details
Posted: 25-May-22 Location: San Francisco, California Type: Full-time Salary: Open Categories: Staff/Administrative
Internal Number: 66871BR The CRC's duties may include, but will not be limited to supporting the management and coordinating the tasks of single or multiple clinical research studies, depending on their size and complexity; act as intermediary between services and departments while overseeing data and specimen management; manage and report on study results; create, clean, update, and manage databases and comprehensive datasets and reports; coordinate staff work schedules, assist with training of Assistant CRCs, and assist Clinical Research Supervisor and / or PI with oversight of other research staff; manage Investigator's protocols in the Committee on Human Research (CHR) online system, as well as renewals and modifications of protocol applications and the implementation of new studies; participate in the review and writing of protocols to ensure institutional review board approval within University compliance; help assure compliance with all relevant regulatory agencies; oversee study data integrity; implement and maintain periodic quality control procedures; interface with departments to obtain UCSF approval prior to study initiation; maintain all regulatory documents; report study progress to investigators; and participate in any internal and external audits or reviews of study protocols. This position is intended to support two studies: the CNICS study and the MODERN ART study. The CFAR Network of Integrated Clinical Systems (CNICS) is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) -funded cohort of clinic cohorts consisting of eight academic HIV clinics across the United States, and UCSF is a participating member. The Patient Reported Outcomes (PROs) component of CNICS involves a health assessment administered to clinic patients approximately every four months and contains information that the medical record often does not capture in a format conducive to evaluation and research, such as adherence to antiretroviral medication, sexual risk behavior, substance use, and mental health screening. The PROs survey is considered part of routine clinical care; deidentified data is transferred to the CNICS Data Coordinating Center for research purposes. The CRC will be responsible for identifying eligible patients in the clinic, administering the health assessment on an iPad, and delivering results to the patient's provider to aid with clinical care in real time. The CRC will also maintain a monthly report of eligible patients present in clinic, approached, declined / accepted, and surveys completed in order to troubleshoot reasons for refusal and non-completion. The MODERN ART study is evaluating the rollout of long-acting injectable antiretroviral therapy. The CRC may help recruit patients, providers, and staff for participation in surveys and interviews. The CRC will coordinate meetings for the study, take meeting minutes, and circulate agendas prior to meetings. The CRC will also help with IRB submissions. If of interest to the CRC, there is the opportunity to participate in qualitative research, including interviewing, analysis, and write up of findings. The CRC position requires to adhere to research protocols with an emphasis on organizational skills and attention to detail. In addition, given that the employee will be working in a publicly funded HIV clinic that serves many diverse and often marginalized urban populations, they will apply a warm and non-judgmental manner and consistently demonstrate interpersonal tact, discretion, and sensitivity when interacting with clinic patients and providers. The CRC will meet regularly with the principal investigator and project director for the studies to ensure study milestones are met.
