Internal Number: 94974 The Ashley Lab, within the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Stanford University Department of Medicine, is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to perform basic functions and activities involved in defined research projects, and independently conduct and analyze experiments. The Ashley lab is focused on the science of precision medicine. We develop methods for the interpretation of whole genome sequencing data to improve diagnosis of genetic disease and to personalize the practice of medicine. We are particularly interested in the extremes of human performance. We try to understand how the human heart develops, contracts, adapts, and fails. We study failing hearts and we study the fittest people in the world. We have a wet and dry lab so we take advantage of cell systems, transgenic models and models of disease to chase down targets and prove causality. Therapeutic development is a near term goal and several of our discoveries are the focus of patents or are being actively pursued by pharmaceutical and biotechnology partners. Our group is one of the most diverse on campus - from mathematicians to molecular biologists, undergrads to junior faculty, physicists to genetic counselors. Duties include:
