The Behavioral Laboratory of the Stanford Graduate School of Business (https://www.gsb.stanford.edu/faculty-research/behavioral-lab) is an interdisciplinary human subjects research laboratory that supports the research of GSB faculty and doctoral students. It is one of a handful of research support units at the GSB that make up the broader organization The Research Hub. The Behavioral Lab mainly supports the research of the micro-organizational behavior and behavioral marketing faculty and doctoral students, but also other disciplines. This entails online survey research, in-person laboratory experiments, and manipulating / coding the collected data (i.e., videos from lab studies and text data from online surveys). Throughout the year, the lab supports about 20+ faculty and their doctoral students.

The Behavioral Laboratory seeks a (1) B-Lab Research Recruitment Manager (Social Science Research Professional 2). The B-Lab Research Recruitment Manager will be responsible for two crucial aspects of the laboratory: recruiting human subjects throughout campus for our laboratory experiments, and recruiting and managing our flexible labor pool of undergraduate research assistants. The B-Lab Research Recruitment Manager will also draw on their creativity and problem-solving skills to broaden and improve academic research in the Behavioral Lab.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage with students, student groups, and staff offices around campus, learning all the obvious and hidden sources for people who want to participate in our experiments as subjects, or to help out by being research assistants. You will use your strengths of connecting with others and getting them excited about your interests. Your management skills are crucial for this role, as you will be overseeing our 5-15 part-time undergraduate research assistants (RAs) on various faculty projects. For faculty coding projects, you will ensure that the RAs know what they need to do, are carrying out their projects correctly and on-time and juggle them between projects. Flexibility and a deep curiosity for behavioral research will also be a strength because other responsibilities may arise and be included in your role. If you have background and education in the behavioral and social sciences, you may have the opportunity to engage with faculty and doctoral students at a higher level, potentially offering advice and direction to their coding projects for which they need RA support.

You will also be required to manage and verify our finance charges on a weekly basis. In addition to subject recruitment and RA management, you will be expected to contribute significantly to continuously improve our research support mandate, depending on your background and your interests. Examples of such endeavors might include:

• Learning how to use Qualtrics and how to post surveys onto our online subject platforms.
• Developing a tracking system for the number of studies any one subject has taken over the course of their time at Stanford, and/or who has been exposed to deception paradigms.
• Crafting internal and/or external tutorials and training materials on new or complex policies and procedures.
• Expanding beyond campus to build a subject pool of local residents that are willing to travel to campus for laboratory experiments.

This is a 100% on-site job that requires work with in-person subjects. Remote work is not available for this role.

Your primary responsibilities include:

• Spearhead, organize, and conduct recruitment efforts to attract subjects for our laboratory studies.
• Building / maintaining relationships with student and staff offices and clubs around campus for ongoing recruitment contacts.
• Potentially build relationships with groups off-campus for possible sources of human subjects.
• Organizing and participating in subject recruitment efforts around campus through the school year. (e.g., table recruitment efforts near dining halls, sporting events, etc)
• Responsible for sourcing, hiring, and overseeing our part time undergraduate research assistants (RAs). (5-15 depending on how busy we are)
• Responsible for the RA pipeline for faculty coding projects. Learn what the project is from the faculty and what's required for successful completion, source the RA, assign the RA, and maintain contact between the RA and faculty until project completion.
• Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.
• Maintaining our two Sona Systems subject pool platforms, ensuring an updated yearly prescreen survey, and generally mastering the platform.
• Adapt or work out the details of new, nonstandard procedures, with the supervisor providing general guidance and suggestions.
• Solve problems and make decisions that affect the direction of the research and result in independent contributions to the overall project.
• Using Excel or similar programs, select and apply standard calculations and formulas independently to compile data or process documents.
• Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.
