The Stanford Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery are seeking a Financial Analyst 1 to perform moderate to complex finance functions and/or activities related to budgeting, business planning, and financial operating metrics. This position will report to the Associate Director of Finance and will focus on financial analysis and reporting dedicated to the clinical mission of the two academic departments. The successful candidate will be highly skilled in excel, and preferably a high end user of tableau, smartsheets, and other cloud based information sharing platforms. Experience with Oracle financials is desirable.

Duties include:

• Perform structured analysis; conduct data mining; identify, clarify, and investigate discrepancies and exceptions; proactively develop solutions and processes.
• Update and present monthly reporting in a formal presentation to finance leadership and the Department Chairs. Produces monthly presentation on key performance indicators, identifies discrepancies and exceptions (e.g. SHC Overhead count vs cFTE, benefits, recovery in funds flow, etc.), and speaks to proactive solutions.
• Downloads and combs through SHC & LPCH data sets to generate monthly reports and reconcile, review, combine, and validate financial data sets and accounts, utilizing financial reports, financial databases, and key financial information.
• Contribute to the annual department budgeting cycle. Analysis will include identifying trends in current expenditures for all fund types to aid managers make key decisions regarding department financial outlook.
• Run and analyze financial reports, often from multiple systems; assist in preparation of management information reports.
• Resolve issues within immediate work unit; Perform preliminary analysis, recognize exceptions and recommend solutions that may require policy changes or the development of new processes.

Ensure works complies with complex internal policies and external regulations which may require interpretation.
• Responsible for making sure all outreach contracts with SHC and SCH are active, and in compliance.
• Participate as a member of a project team and contribute to change management strategy through communication and collaboration with others. Incumbent will work on improvement projects that are related to the finance work area, such as creating new approaches on how to analyze existing report and suggest/design new reports to provide new insights and analysis.
• Compiles and submits the SCVMC monthly invoices, and is the point person for reconciling discrepancies and trouble-shooting issues.
• Serve as a key participant in weekly clinical operations finance huddles.
• Performs Ad-hoc analysis and reporting.
