About the role:
The Yamanaka Lab is renowned for its groundbreaking research in reprogramming adult cells into pluripotent stem cells. Our lab is committed to advancing the field of regenerative medicine and understanding the fundamental mechanisms of pluripotency and cellular reprogramming. We provide a collaborative and innovative research environment at the Gladstone Institutes/UCSF Mission Bay, offering access to cutting-edge technologies and a vibrant scientific community.
What you will do:
We are currently seeking a highly motivated Research Associate (RA) to join our team in Spring 2025.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior researchers on projects related to pluripotency, reprogramming, and stem/progenitor cells.
Critically review and synthesize relevant scientific literature to inform research directions
Design, propose, and perform molecular and cellular assays
Collect, analyze, and present experimental data during lab meetings
Conduct experiments utilizing techniques such as:
Mammalian cell culture
Gene introduction into cells
Cell sorting
DNA, RNA, and protein preparation
qPCR, Western Blotting, ELISA
What you will need:
Bachelorâ™s degree in Biological Sciences or a related field preferred
At least one year of cumulative hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture as part of daily work in an academic or industry research setting. Please specify in your CV the types of cells you have worked with and the duration of your experience
Sufficient experience in RNA or DNA extraction
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced research environment
Strong work ethic and dedication to scientific discovery
What we prefer:
Flexibility to perform cell culture work on weekends when necessary
Practical experience in handling pluripotent stem cells
Practical experience in cell sorting using flow cytometry
