Departmental Overview The Division of Equity & Inclusion (E&I) provides leadership and accountability to multiple departments to resolve systemic inequities for all members of UC Berkeley through engaged research, teaching, and public service, and by expanding pathways for access and success and promoting a healthy and engaging campus climate. The Division consists of 152 career and contract staff, over 935 limited staff and undergraduate and graduate student employees, and a budget of $36M; the work encompasses direct service, programmatic support, and advice and consultation across all campus communities including undergraduate and graduate students, faculty and staff. The Divisional Finance Leader (DFL) reports to the Vice Chancellor and has overall responsibility for financial and business services, program quality reviews and analysis, and special project execution for the Division of Equity & Inclusion. The DFL provides strategic advice and recommendations for management of division-wide financial analysis, controls and budgeting, budget development processes, business services, and program implementation in alignment with budget plans. The position executes business and financial projects in collaboration and consultation with the Vice Chancellor E&I, Assistant Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff, and Divisional HR Manager. Additionally, the DFL has primary supervision for overarching business and financial projects of the divisional financial analysis team; provides analysis and guidance on the financial implications of human resource planning; and provides high-level analysis and support to the Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff on special projects/initiatives. The DFL directs the workflow of financial analysts, provides financial guidance to program directors and contributes directly to projects of major strategic significance to the Division with the Vice Chancellor, Chief of Staff, Core Leadership Team, and Unit Managers/Directors. The DFL has a comprehensive understanding of the Division's structure and mission as well as financial and HR needs in order to serve as a key contributor in formulating the Division's planning in these key areas.
